Re-purposing is like having a V-8
Mar 17th, 2009 | By Stacey | Category: SuccessSo many people are looking for other streams of revenue these days. There are
lots of options for revenue streams from part-time jobs to creating your own
products and services to selling other people’s products and services.
Ideally, the stream will be in alignment with a niche you are either already
serving or desire to work with and something that you care about.
Now it doesn’t have to be. There are a million and one ways to make money,
but if you are like me, you will have more sustainable energy around a project
if you are excited about the idea.
I want to side step here and say that if you are out of work or strapped for
cash, then finding an interim source of income that is not in alignment with your
passion is perfectly acceptable and even advisable. Once you get the cash
coming in, you can re-visit other streams that are in alignment with your
passions.
I was talking to a coaching client the other day who wanted to brainstorm ideas for
passive revenue. She recently had a baby and was not able to spend as much time working with individual clients as previously. All of the ideas she had were good ones but would take time to implement.
They required either finding other people’s products to promote or creating new products and a new market. All of the ideas we discussed were doable and good ideas but would have a fairly significant amount of time to produce significant revenue.
Also the ideas she had weren’t really a match for her passion. She was
passionate about helping other writers make a living writing. Then she told me
that she had created and led a class previously that taught a certain niche how
to earn money from their writing. I was able to help her see that she had all
the materials for this class which could then be used with other writers in a
variety of niches with some simple tweaking. All she had to do was take the
material she had already written and put it into a home study format and she was ready with her product. It won’t take months to develop this product – it
may only take days. And it is in alignment with her passions. Yahoo!!. Next step
will be building her list and marketing her product to other writers
What’s hiding in your computer or closet that can be re-purposed?
Previous articles, classes, audio’s, reports and speeches are all examples of things that
can be re-purposed either as a new product and source of revenue or as a
giveaway to attract more of the clients you desire.
Perhaps you haven’t written anything, but did something that really worked for
you in the past. How can you put that into a system that other people can learn
from?
This week, take a look in your computer files or closets and see what is hiding
there that you may have forgotten about. How can you take some perfectly
good material and breathe new life into it and into your business?
Let me know what you discover.
