What is Stillness? It is the practice of being in the moment rather than in the past or future. It is a place inside of you where inner peace can be found.
If you are familiar with Eckhart Tolle’s books, The Power of Now and A New Earth, then you are familiar with the concept of stillness. It is not a new concept. But has gained more recognition as of late and more and more people are realizing the value of being still.
What would be possible if people across the globe all chose to quiet their minds and get in touch with their true essence for just a few minutes in the morning and then for just 60 seconds each hour? It sounds simple. And really life doesn’t have to be hard.
I am conducting this experiment for 30 days because I know that even though it is simple, the structure would help me and others to practice stillness in our daily lives. And also because I think it would be interesting to see what impact it could have on both an individual as well as a more global level if thousands of us took one minute each hour to be still.
When we are still, we are not in resistance. What if we did not resist our true selves or others? What would be possible in our own lives? In the world?
I have been practicing stillness for a number of years now and find that some type of structure in place really makes a difference. I have created this structure because I find that the more time something takes, the less likely we busy humans are to do it. (I can certainly speak for myself here.)
So I have set this up to take a minimal amount of time (as little as 10 minutes/day) and even if you don’t practice it all the time, you will gain more benefit than if you had not practiced it at all. And you will learn valuable information about yourself, both when you do and when you do not practice.
It does not interfere with any religious beliefs you may have and people of all denominations and beliefs are invited to participate.
I will provide guided instructions in text and audio. All you have to do is follow along and then see what you notice both in your life and the lives of others around you. (And if you prefer to use your own stillness practice, that is fine too.) Regardless of whether you have ever been able to attain stillness or have been practicing it in some form for years, I invite you to participate with us and see what is possible at a new level.
I will post what I notice in my own life on my blog and invite you to comment on what you notice as well (as often or little as you like).
Sign up here to participate in the 30 day Stillness Experiment. It is free. You will receive instructions by email and periodic reminders to help you stay on track.
Invite as many people as you can think of to come play with us by sending them to this site.
As a special thank you bonus, you will also receive my Living Your Dreams newsletter with more tips, tools and inspiration for having more ease, peace and joy in your life. (You can unsubscribe at any time although I can’t imagine that you would want to.)
