It's a simple process (feel free to adjust in a way that works best for you).
On a daily basis:
- Every hour during your normal workday or as often as possible, take 1 minute or so to get still using the exercise recorded on the audio below. (If you miss doing it exactly on the hour, do it as close to the hour as you remember, or are able.) For the vast majority of people, doing the OMM installs a sense of calm. It is important to do it slowly.
Disclaimer: If done too quickly or in other rare instances, you could feel discomfort such as nausea or dizziness. It is my understanding, this may be sign your brain has accessed something that it is processing. This is not a bad thing but if it gets uncomfortable, slow it down. If you still do not feel well, stop. You may want to try it again at another time. Use your own judgment in taking care of yourself. I recommend setting a reminder for every hour using Outlook, Daymate, a watch with an alarm (Casio has vibrating reminder), your phone or whatever works best for you. If you are in front of a computer most of the day, The Mindful Clock is a free chime you can install on your PC. You set it once and it automatically rings every hour. You can see it here. This works really well. I set my volume to a very low setting or else it can be too loudn.
Finding a reminder system that works for you is a crucial part of this process.
For experienced participants – shorter version
Once you have done the One Minute Meditation the first time, you can use this abbreviated version without all the descriptions so you can cut to the chase and get quiet in approx. 1 minute
- A great way to start your day is to get quiet for five-six minutes every morning. You can listen to this audio, or use your own practice for getting quiet. Feel free to download these audios to your MP3 or CD player. Or just press the arrow key to listen to this on your computer.
- If you miss a practice or several practices, just notice. Do not beat yourself up or give up. Notice what gets in your way of being still and recommit to your practice.
- Subscribe to the blog to read about my experiences and to help you stay on track and share in our humanity. Share your experiences on the blog and gain support from the community There is also a list of Frequently Asked Questions there.
- You will receive reminders to support you during this time.
Warmly,

Stacey Mayo
